Metropolitan Museum of Art - WiFi HotSpot

Update: The wifi cafe has re-located. See below for details.

How would like to be surrounded by priceless works of art, have tons of wifi bandwidth all to yourself, plus a good sized table to spread out on. Throw in some great people watching and you have a gem of a wifi hotspot.

The small cafe in the New American Wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is situated in the Charles Engelhard Court on the first floor in the back overlooking Central Park. There is seating for about 75 with a mix of tables and stand-only bars.

The only tricky part is that to get to the Cafe you have to enter the museum which has a 'suggested' entrance fee of $20. Considering this is one of the greatest art collections in the world $20 is a steal. And some students can enter for free (check the museum's web site to see if your school is one of the chosen ones) otherwise plead poverty and 'donate' a dollar.

Since there are no usable wall sockets, make sure you have a full battery charge or pick up a universal laptop battery.

Security Note: To bring a laptop into the museum you will need a pass from security. From the main entrance on 5th Ave use the left door. The security desk is immediately on your left. Have your laptop ready and power it on when asked by the agent. They will give you a pass which you will need to show as you make your way through the bag check area.
