Borders - Columbus Circle - WiFi HotSpot

It seems that Borders are the latest chain to offer free wifi in their stores. Good news for New Yorkers and visitors alike, especially in this economy where every penny counts.

The Columbus Circle store is located in the gleaming Time Warner Center. Take the main escalator up to the second floor, Borders is directly in front of you.

There are a few lounge chairs scattered around the sales floor, but you will need to get there early to grab one.

The only other alternative is the Dean & Deluca cafe on the right as you enter. It is restricted to paying customers of the cafe and can seat about 45. There are no power outlets and only a few tables offer any kind of screen privacy.

The wifi service is provided by Verizon and falls into the low end of the broadband speed charts compared to other hotspots around the city. Web surfing can be sluggish at times with annoying pauses in screen refresh.
